Burnley in Lancashire has a rich industrial heritage but since the decline of the cotton industry, the rivers have been left in a poor physical state. URES (the Urban River Enhancement Scheme) set out to improve fish passage through the town and help local people get involved and learn more about nature and river conservation. This website is full of information, pictures and stories about our work and we hope you enjoy the journey. We made lots of friends, had lots of fun and really helped to make the river better.
