Stories in Stone was delivered in partnership with Love and Etiquette Foundation (L&E), a Burnley based based initiative which, like URES, is working to make a difference to places, lives and communities.
Stories in Stone was a cross-cultural community engagement initiative that included treasure trail walks, talks in the local Ghosia Mosque and a series of stone carving workshops based at The Faith Centre, Barden Lane, Burnley. Exploring through art, history and culture the Rivers Jhelum and Surma in Pakistan and Bangladesh and the rivers Brun and Calder in Burnley.
Stories in Stone empowered local people to access their heritage in way that encourages positive messages and helps to change perceptions.
Publicised through local schools, Mosques and community centres in Burnley Stories in Stone also featured on the National Asian Radio station broadcast from Manchester.
